The Electrical System

The electrical system includes all the hardware based on the robot, the host computer, the wireless system, and robot firmware. The objective for the 2007 competition is to create a strong base on which to build future teams. In order to guide us towards that goal we have broken the project up into 5 distinct phases.

Development Plan

  • Phase One
    • Function description of hardware (Completed)
    • Evaluate and specify parts
    • Circuit design
    • Build schematic for electrical system
  • Phase Two
    • Begin firmware design
    • Purchase prototype parts and board
    • Build two prototype boards
    • Evaluate performance of prototype
  • Phase Three
    • Secure founding for full production run.
  • Phase Four
    • Up schematic and board to rev 2 based on phase two results
    • Purchase parts for full run of robots
    • Build 10 boards
    • Test and debug
  • Phase Five
    • more revisons if neccesary
    • Debug

Currently we are in phase one. We have just completed a functional description of the electrical system and are now evaluating parts for use in the robot.
