***[(Video Link) WIN vs Billy]

****Hibachi's second match was arguably the highlight of the entire tournament, except for possibly the incredible win of Vijay's Car over Perri. Billy managed to do some serious damage to Hibachi early in the match, nearly cutting the belt and flipping Hibachi on its side. However then, Billy made the fatal mistake of approaching Hibachi while it was flipped. When Billy came in contact with the weapon, it literally was cut in half (watch the video). This was a win to Remember for the Robojackets.

***[(Video Link) LOSS vs Silent Spring]

****In the third match, Hibachi took on arguably the #1 beetleweight in the world, Silent Spring. Built and driven by a Georgia Tech alumnus, it was honor to just share the arena with such a legend of the game. After a few solid hits, Hibachi's weapon was bent, preventing it from spinning. In order to preserve it for our one remaining match, the Hibachi team collectively decided to tap out.

***[(Video Link) LOSS vs Hellbot]

****The final match was a tough loss for the Hibachi boys. Hellbot was literally just a fast remote control car, with a construction hardhat on top. The lack of weapon, made it extremely fast, other than a low wedge and made it extremely fast and maneuverable. Unfortunately during this match, Hibachi's drive system also began to malfunction. The combination of these two factors made it difficult to gain control in the match. Despite Hibachi knocking off one of Hellbot's four wheels, Hibachi lost in a judges decision.

Competitions

Motorama 2020

  • Results:
    • Double Elimination:
      • [(Video Link WIN) vs Protostorm]
        • The first match was a true driver focused battle. Proton, a well built vertical bar spinner, put up a good fight at first. Protostorm managed to take large chunks out of Hibachi's voluptuous foam wheels. However, after Hibachi cut the weapon belt and disabled drive on one wheel, Protostorm tapped out.
      • [(Video Link) WIN vs Billy]
        • Hibachi's second match was arguably the highlight of the entire tournament, except for possibly the incredible win of Vijay's Car over Perri.

Problems

  • The 8 hours before leaving for Motorama, we discovered that the robot was heinously obese (whopping 2 ounces overweight), causing us to put it on a diet via dremmel. However, dieting process, while successful, left the weapon scarred and deformed, barely recognizable from its original CAD design.
  • In our attempt to diet Hibachi, we also replaced our back plate with a plastic plate that was the dictionary definition of "janky". Our screw holes were however, pardon the pun, screwed, as the screws were unable to screw in full way and left half hanging out of the chasis.
