Problems

  • Flywheels came off because they were held in with a press fit and a flange
  • Weapon drive wheel ballooned and went over the cap that was supposed to hold it in
  • Lower RPM compared to drums makes it so that it gets hit first
  • Because our orders went out of stock (VEX) we had to redesign last minute and went overweight
  • We should have done weight savings on anything we could have

Good aspects

  • Did not take any damage when spinning properly
  • Actually spun up
  • Drive worked and never took any damage

Changes/Improvements

  • Retain flywheels better
  • Make weapon drive wheel out of a hard rubber. DO NOT USE SILICONE
  • Use more plastic on low stress components
  • You can buy urethane coated bearings. We probably would have used that if we knew.
