    • Results:
      • Bracket Style:
        • Loss vs. Silent Spring
          • Sandi's wheels were not stock, and the different left and right wheels caused the robot to drive in arcs.
          • Silent Spring's weapon disk slipped between the baseplate and ring assembly, shearing the screw of a ring support.
          • Sandi's ring was spinning at such high speed that it still hit Silent Spring's weapon, shattering it, throwing the robot across the arena, and affecting its steering.
          • Sandi's ring was unable to spin up again due to the lack of support; eventually, the hubs slipped the drive axles on both sides of the robot, disabling it and resulting in a loss by KO.
        • Loss vs. Ghoti
          • Sandi (for a yet unknown reason) could not drive as well right side up as it could upside down, so its mobility was hampered.
          • Ghoti went in for a hit, as Sandi would not easily move towards the other robot.
          • The impact knocked both Sandi's wheels off axle due to the concussive force, disabling its movement. Ghoti was tossed and landed upside down, its bar bent by the impact.
          • Due to its initiation of contact, Ghoti won by KO.

    Problems:

    • Hubs and wheels slipped off of motor axles with enough force applied to the robot.
    • Non-stock wheels made the robot almost undriveable.
    • Ring would spin down and not spin up again easily after hitting any object (tested at full speed with plastic water bottle).
    • Ring slipped off of supports at certain locations along its track.
    • Large open space between ring assembly and robot baseplate is an opening to attack.

    Good Aspects:

    • Weapon was one of (if not the most) powerful in the 3lb class.
    • Can operate when flipped, although was far more effective on one side than the other for some reason.
    • Robust support network can allow several supports to be taken out and the robot still be viable after repairs.

     Changes/Improvements:

    • Use common screw sizes so multiple esoteric hex keys are unnecessary.
    • USE STOCK WHEELS.
    • POSSIBLY plastic baseplates and motor mounts to save weight.
    • More precisely machined ring assembly and teeth in order to prevent slippage and imbalance.
    • Smaller components in order to save room for the internals.
    • Less space between ring assembly and baseplates.
    • Better skids.
    • Mounting location for power switch.

    Notes:

Sandi still runs. It just doesn't run well.

"Official unofficial" name is Hurricane Sandi.
