One of the new trends in three pound battlebots is using a brushless drive because it is a lighter and smaller way to make your robot move. One of the hurdles to get over with this process is changing the firmware of the ESCs. Because they are typically designed for drones, the firmware they come with does not allow the motor to run in reverse, which is a must for driving. This article goes over how to flash the proper firmware onto a brushless ESC.
