The field is a metal ring (also known as a dohyo) that allows our robots (which are equipped with magnets) to simulate real sumo wrestlers’ sturdiness. At the judge's call, the robots will then proceed to try and push each other off of the ring. The remaining robot is declared the victor.
  
RoboWrestling or Sumo, as it was known previously, first started under Battlebots in 2017 and was officially made its own team in 2020. Every year, RoboWrestling competes in the All-Japan Sumo Tournament in Tokyo, Japan. In the future, we may compete in Canada and Mexico.

We currently work in two weight classes being the sumo (3kg) and minisumo (500g). The 3kg robots have a 20 x 20 cm size restriction, with the 500g having a 10 x 10 cm size restriction. There is no height restriction on these bots. In the future, we may work on remote controlled sumo bots as well.

We meet in the Student Competition Center (575 14th St). If you are working in the machine shop or mechanical room you will need to wear closed-toe shoes and a t-shirt (no long sleeves). Bring a hair tie if needed.
