The field is a metal ring (also known as a dohyo) that allows our robots (which are equipped with magnets) to simulate real sumo wrestlers’ sturdiness. We currently work in two weight classes being the sumo (3kg) and minisumo (500g). The 3kg robots have a 20 x 20 cm size restriction, with the 500g having a 10 x 10 cm size restriction. We meet in the Student Competition Center (575 14th St). If you are working in the machine shop or mechanical room you will need to wear closed-toe shoes and a t-shirt (no long sleeves). Bring a hair tie if needed.

At the judge's call, the robots will then proceed to try and push each other off of the ring. The remaining robot is declared the victor.
