Loki 1.0 is a 3 - pound horizontal bar spinner featuring a plastic chassis milled from a single block of UHMW high-density polyethylene, a powerful 6 - cell motor, and an extremely large weapon relative to the size of the chassis. Very much a "the best offense is a good defense" robot, Loki 1.0 lacked significant armor protecting vital components. Whether this would have been detrimental in a battle will never be known, as Loki 1.0 was working in time to compete in its first match against Silent Spring at Motorama 2018, and its drive motors were removed to supplement the failing drive motors that plagued other robots.

Problems

  • Did not have enough room inside for wires, causing the bottom plate to stick out further than designed.
  • Screw holes on the bottom plate were not properly aligned with the holes on the chassis. This, coupled with the aforementioned point, caused numerous other parts to become misaligned, and contributed significantly to Loki's inability to compete at Motorama 2018.

Good aspects

  • 6 - cell motor and battery was extremely powerful.
  • UHMW HDPE chassis was lightweight and strong.

Changes/Improvements

  • Make internal cavity much larger to allow more space for wiring.
  • Add protective guards for wheels and pulleys.

Loki technically never lost a match.

(Random Joke)

Named for the Norse trickster god. Low key a pretty good name.
