September 15th Meeting Minutes

  • Updates from everyone
    • Roman has full support for Kickoff. Trying to get food paid for. the location is set
    • RIM Money
      • Confusion with money but will pay us rest of the money next month. They will let us have a loan for the same amount for this month.
      • We're tight on money, so still try to conserve it.
    • Jeep thing is not handled yet
    • Rockwell invited us on animation fair
      • meet different sponsors
      • Free booth (GT Booth…didn't have to pay for it)
      • In Nashville. GT will find a hotel for us. in November
    • MSE-october.
      • There will be different vendors that will be good to talk to.
      • No specific structure. Wanted MSE teams to be there, but in our case to see how we build robotics
    • TSRB- we need to get our stuff cleaned out of there ASAP (very Important!)
    • RoboCup
      • more than enough people for electrical work
      • going well
      • not too many people for mechanical (3-4)
    • Bill submitted (FIRST 5k for kit of parts )
      • Meet with finance guys and talk to them about which account it's going to come out of. Want it to be labeled a recurring cost. Why not try it?
    • BattleBots
      • had about 15 people come
      • need to plan something so that don't finish too early. Get them involved for both semesters
    • Need Safety Training sessions
    • FIRST Robotics
      • Had first FIRST meeting and went well. Around 10 people
      • most familiar with FIRST
    • Beta
    • IGVC
      • 5 new members, rest mechanical
      • second meeting, not many members came.
      • need more software people!
  • Dues and money
    • GT Student Foundation Funding. Why not apply for it? Have to try to align it to their mission statement.
    • Dues?
      • Roman has all due info but Jake is going to learn from him. Will send out an email for dues. No checks
  • Safety Training Sessions
    • Next general meeting Wed 1st October 7 pm – 9 pm in Piedmont Room. Have Brian give the Safety Chat and then can do training session
    • Do it a little later so people get a feel for different types of environments
    • FIRST TE Session
      • a little rough. problems with copy place, getting rooms, etc
      • presenter be there 15 min before.
      • We need to keep a microphone. figure out which room it is and then try it out in there. already set at the frequency for that room
      • When lots of volunteers come, we need to figure out calls much better. People were lot.
      • Scatter people across courtyard so that people know where to go. Most volunteers needed for when people first get there and during activity
    • Stefan working on printing presentation.
  • Proposals - Time to turn them in!
    • Robocup and IGVC turned in proposal.
    • Budget will be determined between the leader, president, vice president, and treasurer based on past history on spending.
    • Officer proposals…turn in!
    • TURN IN YOUR PROPOSALS ASAP!
    • Have a meeting next week to talk about proposals? Next Mon at 6pm
